Everyone we encounter in life, is in it for a reason, whether it be friendship or relationship, or whether it is long term or short lived. Everything happens for a reason, and that includes our dealings with others. Soulmates....nah....ppl we r meant to meet in our lives, for watever reason, yeh. Everything is valid, even the stuff we perceive as negative. It all helps us be the person we r today. I think if someone believes they have 2 soulmates, they r deeply confused about why the ppl r in their life. Some people you just feel in your soul are meant to be closer. As close as your next thought, while standing in-between the silence of each beat of your heart.... 
I strongly believe Dan and I r meant to be together, it feels right, and im very happy with that, even more so cos its mutual, and thats wat true love is all about, finding a 10 that also believes u r a 10 as well. 'Soul mate' is just another man made term. The only thing that is true is how we feel. Ive read wat some folks have wrote about 'soul mates' and some ppl say "it was my ex, i know were meant to be together, but he just cant see it" and i think to myself, wth?, if it was her 'soul mate' then why is it not mutual? why r they not together? We can feel deliriously in love with more than 1 person in our lifetime, do we really have THAT many soul mates? I think not. A Soulmate, can be a relationship, or best friend \ advisor. A person that was placed in your life to help you spiritually, emotionally, mentally through situations. Sometimes we try to place a soulmate into strictly a relationship. That may not be what their task was design for within our life. To help with the growth of the person in various accepts. As i said before, 'Soul mate' is a man made term, a soul mate is watever u believe it to be, and as Keith says below, That sounds more like a description of a muse or mentor than a soulmate.
