Do you people honestly believe that it really matters who was elected? Because the problems this country face, the whole world actually, are much larger than any one person or one political party can fix on its/their own. Whoever was elected yesterday has got a huge legacy of problems to try to fix, given to us by who? Not Bush, not Congress, not the Supreme Court but by we the people. We voted for these people, we sat back and let them do whatever they wanted and we didn't speak up when we believed something was going wrong. WE allowed this to happen. And you know who can fix it? Yup, you guessed it, US! If we don't like it, we speak up, we volunteer, we keep watch. We don't have to wait for an election to make our voices heard. If we speak loud enough, it will be heard.

And you know what, I believe in this country, I believe in the people of this country, I believe that if we really do band together and support each other instead of fighting each other at every turn over stupid labels we put on each other, that we can overcome anything. We don't have to agree, matter of fact, disagreement is, I believe, where solutions will come from. IF we can remember that we are all people, all citizens of this nation and all pretty much want the same things in the end. If we can learn to listen to each other and open our hearts and minds to differences, real change and solutions can come to us.

Damn, who put that soapbox in front of me, you know I can't resist bigsmile bigsmile flowerforyou

Actually, I do not care for Obama (on a personal level). But you know what? Unlike many who refused to support Bush because "they didn't vote for him so therefore he is not my President", I will support him because he is going to be our leader. And, if you really look at this election, besides it being historical in him winning, the real news is how alot of Americans turned out to vote. America spoke, and the majority spoke for him. Like it or not, Obama got out their and encouraged people to vote. Even McCain himself said this in his concession speech (which was handled with dignity and class).

Listen, all of us will not agree with everything that Obama does. But, unlike Bush, we have to work with him. We have to speak out so that he can change things. Will he? I do not know. But, he and Congress have a long road ahead of them, and both the Republicans and Democrats have to work with one another to fix things.

Amen! And the only way Republicans and Democrats will be able to fix things is put aside their perceived differences and try to focus on their sameness, as we all need to do. It's gonna be hard on all of us for a while, there is no easy and fast solution. And anyone who believed a campaign promise by either candidate that it was going to be that way, well, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I'd like to show you. Politicians lie, it's up to us to keep them as honest as is possible and up to us to make sure they do whatever it is needs to be done.

So true Suzy. And, think of this. I have heard Obama say repeatedly that he knows he has to work with the Republicans to make things happen. He knows this. The irony of this statement? Bush reached out to the Democrats on alot of issues too...and he was blasted for those attempts not only from some Democrats, but from Republicans too. I just hope and pray Obama realizes that while his whole party was behind him during his campaign...once in Washington, it won't be the same. Which is sad...because if Washington doesn't shape up, neither will our country.

People need to realize that the war will not end the day after he steps into office. They need to realize new jobs won't be created the day after he steps into office. It is going to take time. How much time? I do not know, but it will take time. And, the only thing we as a people can do is ask that our elected officials listen to us and work with Obama. Cause if this turns into a power struggle, then we are doomed.

It will inevitably be a power struggle. I live in the DC area, we eat, sleep and live politics here, whether we like it or not. I can tell you, the only thing that matters here is power. Which is why I say it's up to US as a people to make our voices heard, only when the politicians realize that we are paying attention and will turn on them, will they lay aside the power struggle and actually DO something. But, it's up to us.

unless they ignore certain votes, or decide to rig a election.
and yes we do have to ban together if we all looked back at our history we can see what we need to do to fix these problems that should have never been started, and now children are being brainwashed by media i believe if people dont see this they need to be educated becuase do you honestly believe corp. wouldnt want to sway the public to there best intrest. this was my first presidential election and i feel shammed because the canidate i liked was ignored alot of the time or smeared and had lies spread about him.

i believe we need to worry about our country and no one elses unless asked stop crossing borders and stop all ways being best buds with Israel.

Can I ask you a question? It might come off as I'm being critical but that's not my intention. You say you feel shammed because your candidate was ignored etc. Did you volunteer to help his campaign? If not, for the next time, that's what you should do. Volunteer, get out there, help out, help spread the word, talk to people, attend fundraisers, etc.

People can only do what is in their power to do. If they do not know, it's not because their stupid or anything. It's because we're human, we don't know everything but we can learn. But if there's no one willing to teach, how can we?

you definitely seem like a rational person and your right.
i did however start putting out stickers and propaganda for a site called trueworldhistory.info , the site doesn't represent everything i believe but its definitely good at getting people started to digging into history a little more.
some of it is conspiracy stuff but it dose show how the fed is corrupt too.
