You know when i say i live in hillbillyhell i am not kidding. Today was
LIVING PROOF of what i am about to say. As you know i am a single mom with an autistic child. I live ALONE. I stay home, dont really know anyone here and having an autistic child I have been pretty much a "shut in mom" or stay at home mother for eight years now. I dont throw wild partys, no company, and even my landlady calls to check to make sure i am still alive because i am so quiet. Then this morning hits..... Around 11AM I am downstairs resting and I hear one helluba commotion outside. My ducks are QUACKING, and i hear someone STORMING up my back steps which is just off from my room. Then the FRONT DOOR is about BEATEN OFF THE HINGES. Then the BACKDOOR the same. BANG BANG BANG. I have a GLASS STORM DOOR for the front door and a metal screen door with the back door. I thought the place was under siege. THE BANGING CONTINUED....and it was REAL LOUD. I hurried upstairs and find about a SWAT TEAM out front.... cops EVERYWHERE!!! "ARE YOU insert the womans name"???? NO!! I am (insert my name)....STEP OUTSIDE NOW MAAM!!!...I am like WHAT IN THE HECK??!! So i unlocked the glass storm door to have 3 COPS come up from front and BEHIND. WTF??!! AGAIN this cop asks me if i am (insert her name)....I said NO! MY NAME IS...(insert my name). I am getting upset and real PISSED OFF by this point. Is this (insert the WRONG ADDRESS)???? NO! i said this is (insert MY address)!! "DO YOU KNOW (insert the womans name)..."WELL NO OFFICER I DONT!! I DONT GET OUT MUCH!!!". Then a WOMAN officer steps around the corner and asks to see my DRIVERS LICENSE TO VERIFY WHO I AM??? WHAAAAAAT??? I have TWO VEHICLES BOTH REGISTERED SITTING RIGHT IN THE DRIVEWAY and they are so stinkin stewwwwpid they didnt call in the plates???....ONLY HERE IN HILLBILLYHELL!!! So i said ALRIGHT!!! Let me go INSIDE and get my drivers license for you. OH MY GOD!! I thought they were gonna pull their guns at this point!!! WELL CHIT!! I DONT HAVE MY DRIVERS LICENSE IN MY JAMMIES FOR GODS SAKES!!! duuuuuuh!!!!! So she followed me INSIDE MY OWN RESIDENCE I reckon to make SURE i wouldnt come out with a uzi or sumptin??....(could hide that in my jammies too????)...."GEE!! THIS IS A NICE PLACE!!!"...with her hand on her PISTOL on her hip....I see this while getting my purse down from my refridgerator. I get out my wallet, see her hand still ON that gun.... and hand it to her. "OH! I am soooo sorry maaaam"...so I think they are done. HA HA HA!! OH LAWD HAVE MERCY NOOOO BUDDY!!!...."where is (insert the address they wanted)"...."GEEE!!! I DONT KNOW!!!...OH!! wait!! thats right ACROSS THE STREET with the NUMBERS ON THE HOUSE". now while the "po po" are detaining ME outside the phone rings and its my sons school...cute huh?! So i have to get to his school ASAP. So I get dressed, get in my car and get followed to his school. GOD AMIGHTY DAM!! Nothing like feeling like a CRIMINAL in my own HOME, or even driving to my kids SCHOOL thats only 1/2 mile away. Now excuse me but there was no call for this treatment. WHAT IS WRONG with going to the RIGHT ADDRESS if they want a FUGITIVE???? ONLY IN HILLBILLYHELL!!!!! |

This is terrible Barbie! I've dealt with police incompetence again and
again in my life, it SUCKS being treated like a criminal because of THEIR stupidity. And they followed you right into your house? I guess you have to physically slam the door in their face or loudly demand they not enter in order to preserve your right of eminent domain - plus WHO ARE THEY to even ask for your ID when THEY had the wrong house??? Its not like they even had a valid reason to BE at YOUR house. |
oops... misused the term 'eminent domain'.

awwww!! thanks massagetrade for replying to my big vent!!! yup! that
female cop followed me INSIDE my home and i still got followed to my kids elementary school. GEEEEMANEEECRICKETS!!! I got a good mind to call my friend...their new BOSS...the judge. |

Wow BigSister, good thing your son was not home, that could have been a
terrible situation. What makes the whole thing worse, is now you have to wonder 'what kind of people am I living near', that they would deserve such treatment from the cops. Maybe it's a good thing you haven't made too many friends around there. I hope things get better for you. I think you are wonderful to be such a devoted parent. I have friends who did not have time to be, so they put thier child in a state home. I've always felt so bad about that, but truth is, I think he was better off there, at least he got some great quality attention. So kuddo's to you! |

Redykeulous thank you for the support. I am in a really nice area of
town but because my place is a trailer with an additional room added on I reckon that makes me a lower class resident in the po pos eyes!! the only thing missing was fox and the cameraman for that show COPS!! HAHAHA!! |
Wow barbie...that is jsut messed up girl. Sorry to hear such an awful
thing happened, in your own home. Good thing your child was not present during all that. That could have just set off a nightmare for you to be left dealing with. I would follow that up to report that cluster f*&$@ |

Barbie why do you have to use derogatory inuendos like hillbilly hell?
What you described doesnt just happen in the south. Its every where, Im proud of the fact that Im from Carolina, and it is kinda insulting. It sucks what happened to you, but it is not exclusive to the south. Besides, unless you live in the Appalachains you are not in hillbilly Heaven, or a hillbillt at all. We might be Rednecks by choice, but we are Southern by the grace of God. We have two kinds od Yankees here, Yankees and damn Yankees. Yankees come here but then go home, A damn Yankee stays. Sorry, but this site is not just for the Northern section of the country, and you should smile when you say Hillbilly. |

Say da.........Chattanooga, that is in the appalachains too aint it.....
Sorry, I should have looked. |

They will most likely not even make a formal appoligy, and that is the
sad part. Things like this could make life hard for a family, especially kids. Now Fanta talk about derogatory, I am one of those damn yankees, proir was U-per. They are just names man. |
I know rwk, and Im sorry, your a damn Yankee
Setting aside the topic of derogatory terms, Fanta makes an excellent
point that this kind of thing happens all over the country. We need greater restraint and accountability with the police, while also empowering them to enforce the law, all on a limited budget - its a problem. |
yeah fanta!!!
(its that bad!!!) |
Consider me a damn Yankee, then. And damn proud to be one, too.
*** As to the OP's subject, I can certainly see where you'd be PO'd...hmmm OP/PO...anyway.. However...for some reason they got the wrong address (someone typed it in wrong on the warrant, perhaps?) or..whatever reason... now, I don't know the circumstances, but say they were going to serve a warrant on a CAAD suspect. You don't REALLY expect them to sit out there and call in to do a license plate check while said suspect runs out the back door and up into "them thar hills," do ya? And if I was serving a warrant on a potentially AAD suspect, I'd have my hand on my gun, too. They made a mistake, sure, and a pretty big one at that. But they didn't know that for sure at the time and are not going to take your word for it that you are who you happen to say you are, right off the bat. Their lives could be in danger and it's their job to assess the situation before they presume everything is "ok." |

Sheila, It looks like one of us has misunderstood Barbie's post. My
understanding is that the police were at the wrong house FOR NO GOOD REASON. Not because they made a mistake in the *address*, but because they made a mistake in *selecting which house* matched the address. The RIGHT thing to do when an officer makes that mistake (and can SEE that they've made that mistake) is to simply apologize and leave. They had no cause to be at that house to begin with, except their own incompetence. |
