Topic: I got overpaid | |
---|---|
by 320 quid this month(about 550 dollars). Do i keep quiet and hope they dont notice, or be honest and tell them? Be honest, because once they figure out their mistake, you might get in trouble if you can't pay it back. I would beable to pay it back if they asked for it so that doesnt worry me too much, so im thinking about taking the gamble. If you can pay it back, take it. |

But....what if it's a setup to test you/your honesty? Well they did just lay off a quarter of our workforce, maybe they need to get rid of a few more! But no, i doubt that. I would sue the fk outta them for entrapment. |

they'll prolly deduct it from your next check. Is your accounting in-house or contracted? In-house. I wondered if maybe the accounts girl just likes me! lol |

I found a nice hunk of gold at work the other day, I didn't take it, it was a nice piece, well more than an ounce.

Direct deposit? Or paper check (cheque?)?
If it's direct deposit it will be easy to claim ignorance. However there is the issue of your posting on the internet that you did, in fact, notice. |

If they find out, they will deduct it from your pay. That happened to my dad. That was a bummer.

Direct Deposit. I could claim ignorance as i always have overtime in my pay packet as well and the amount varies each month. Not that i think they would really believe i didnt notice. I think the worst that can happen is they ask for it back, or deduct me later on. And being the immoral person that i am... |

Since a job would seem a lot more valuable than 320 quid I would report it. It is possible that you have some interal fraud going on and you would not want to be included in it. Eventually they will find the mistake and then permenently consider you a questionable employee something that could follow you even if you were laid off. Internal fraud costs a lot of people their jobs every year.

I say tell them. That way, when you do rob them blind, they won't suspect you.

I really dont think this is the case, someone just made a keying in error i think, they gave me 1.xx(edited as i nearly gave my salary away! lol) times my basic wage instead of 1.00. They have done stupid amounts of checks on me already, the nature of my job demands it, and they never realised i was questionable then! lol! |
