What would happen if people started opening businesses that only sold American made goods right now? "American Made” . I can see it now.

We could build up our own manufacturing base again.


I know cheaper labor in other markets right?

Well, ever wonder why congress doesn’t enforce stricter trade deals with China and the like. I mean you would think that we should charge china what they charge us to import goods to their country right?

After all china might actually have to pay their workers more to compete then right?

I know slave labor and communism right. Well then we should restrict trade with them then. Oh, wait that would mean that greedy American business men, who lobby congress would not get a crack at those billions of Chinese people who want their products...hmmmm.

I mean, so what if China is trying to poison and kill our children with tainted goods. As long as politicians and greedy business elites are taken care of then the hell with the rest of us right?

After all you are just ordinary and you don’t have a pedigree and well, your children will most likely never rub elbows with the "SPECIAL" people in Washington and corporate America... be they Republican or Democrat... right?????

Sustainable eating as well as growing your own food is in the works and has been for awhile now. I think its a great idea but dont be mad when you cant get your japanese oranges at xmas anymore!

I did. My point is simply that even Americans say how crappy American products are (some Simpsons satire springs to mind on this when Marge goes to purchase a simple wooden rolling pin and backs away when she reads the label that states "Made in America").

Other countries do it better & cheaper - mainly because those greedy people have outsourced it to every other country. Then again, those same greedy people have made a lot of things affordable for a lot of people (think how much a laptop would cost you if all the components were made in America for example).

As a consumer you have the power, you can chose American made or you can chose something made cheaper somewhere else. Given the power of the dollar over the decisions of the purchaser, American made is never going to be #1 purchase as it will probably cost more, break quicker and give less value for dollar. I wonder how many people that agree with your post have iPods (designed in America but made everywhere else) and other nice accessories made in foreign countries. Until the people stop talking and starting doing something proactive then get used to being butt fcked by the big corporations.
