The tables on the formulas go state to state.

Also if a parent gives up their parental rights, they are no longer the parent and I do not believe they should pay child support.

Just my 2 cents worth.

My Ex gave up his rights and paid for my husband to adopt the children. AND walked away from thousands of child support only to walk back in when the grandchildren came along.
Yes he doesn't have any rights in the eyes of the law but he does have whatever rights the adult children give him so once they are of age you will still have no say if they are not living in your home. With computer programs it is easy for kids to find their non-custodial parents or vice versa.

wyoming......they take combined wages of both parents, times 40%.
thats what you pay......and even though my kids are with me 90% of the time I still pay her...

crappy part is if she gets a raise....her support goes up too!!!!!!
I hope she never looses that job!!

personally, it should be decided according to the median of the area you are living in. For example...

1. average rent (500.00)
2. Average monthly utilities (250; gas
budgeted for the winter)
3. Average cost of groceries (food and
non-food) (200)
4. Gas for the vehicle (320)
5. Clothing (240 per year/12 months)
6. Misc. i.e. sports, camp, music (100)

Now these are all very rough numbers. But add them all up and you get 1390. Lets round it to 1400 a month for easy numbers.

Each parent should be required to provide 700 per month, towards everything I mentioned above, as they are basic needs for the children.

And it is not right for the custodial parent to have to pay 90% of that amount, just because they have custody.

as far as giving up of parental rights to get out of support, I do not agree with that either completely. In the case of adoptioin, yes I woudl agree, but not if one of the parents has custody and the other doesnt.

right idea but you forgot to divide the expenses by family members

500 rent each adult is 2 shares each child one share

so if there is one adult one child you divide by 3 2for adult and one for child

so thats what 166 for the childs share divided by 2 = 83 rent
82.50 for gas budget

gas for the car if it is an event for the child it gets divided as well you get to be there for the event and have the child in your life (that should count for something)

166 for rent and utilities
100 for food 200/2
gas for vehicle it comes with the territory zip
20 for clothes is ok but that is each 40 a month total
100 a month each for misc (comes with the territory expenses
---
388 a month (which is 90 a week about)
