A Friend in Shadow
Often I sit in the wake of a shadow And ponder the dreams of days gone by. My wanderings stray to the land of life, Where perception's illusions Lure most to it's traps. What I see to most are dark... With few words do I speak... Most find me hesitant Or skiddish at best. In shadows I find solitude And in the night my spirit Finds it's release. Where most see bodies Of mere flesh and bone, I see what hearts beat And intentions lurk underneath. Some say I am mystic Or a cleric of sorts, They label the unknown And what some fail to understand. Must I be some monster That lurks in the dark? All things from the shadows Aren't all evil in heart. Though words may cut deep And some actions offend, Remember those shadows I find my peace in. My heart is wide open For whom I call friend.
