What do you think? Should information such as blood type, allergies,
and dna (to name three) be part of the information stored on the electronic strip of your drivers license? I for one believe it should. For one major reason. Say you are in an accident and unconcious; Paramedics get there and have to act immediately to save your life, but you are allergic to Penicillin. They grab your id (or type your license plate into a computer, and up pops your medical information such as allergies, and blood type. The dna can also be used to track down your family in order to notify them. |

Personally, I think it's a great idea to have that info available just
for that very reason. If your unconscience (say from an accident) what better way to find out that information. |

exactly. I am a perfect case in point. give me penicillin (first thing
given when there is an infection) and I will go into cardiac shock. Needless to say, SOMEONE will get rich fast; not me though, lol. |

YES!!! this needs to be done, my friend got in an accident a couple of
years ago, nothing to major but he did have a concussion and broken leg, because of the concussion he was unable to tell the doctor's that he was allergic to Codeine, which I am also, he left the hospital in a casket, it's awful, so yes I think our "goods" should be on our licenses!!!! |

I think its an excellent idea for your allergies, blood type, etc to be
put on your drivers license! Would probably save more than a few lives! |

Incredible Idea,,, Savings lives and having the ability to be treated
the right way the first time is the key here, Knowing someone's Medical Background can and will save more lives than those lost. |

Are you ready for a major shocker?
The government has been looking into this (at least state level, I dont know about federal) for several years now. ANd you kno what is holding it up? Not hte government. It is the civil liberties groups that are fighting it stating it is a violation of civil liberties, etcd. etc. etc. That "big brother" just wants more control, etc. etc. etc. |

Give me a break!!! How stupid!!!

I view this in the same scope as seatbelts; I think it's a positive
thing to do and promote, but should be voluntary with the exception of children. I imagine that the ACLU and other civil liberties organizations take exception only to forcing such a thing on someone. |

No lady, they have come right out and stated that it is a violation (in
their opinion) of civil liberties and presonal freedom. The the government would use it in turn to control us more and more. They have stated that it should not even be an option, let alone required. |
|
|
|
I can't believe they'd have an objection even to voluntary ID/med
records. Well I suppose we are all allowed a nonsensical opinion once in awhile! |

Other people's children! Ugh!

Thank you Daniel and Lady! LoL, she's my world!!!!

The ACLU is the civil liberties union taking a stand on real ID. Will
find information and post it. |

>> medical data on **state** id/driver license
>> It is the civil liberties groups that are fighting it stating it is a violation of civil liberties. Are you sure? Like Duffy said, I think you might actually be talking about the proposed readID, which is NOT simply a matter of adding some info to the existing state driver's license - as far as I know, individual states can already make their own decisions in that area. The readID proposal does a lot more than that. |

I have to agree with Massage. We have to be very careful when deciding
on the unauthorized release or our personal and health related information links. Have any of you ever REALLY read what is included in laws that we "think" we are trying to pass. On the surface it may seem innocent and may seem like a good idea, but beware and be afraid of those that lobby for this law to be passed, for included in some of the most innocent looking laws are some of the most horrible attachments and inclusions. It is the civil liberty groups with many volunteers and unpaid professionals that help protect us from these laws. And at the very least they try to make us aware of what is being hidden within the law proposals. So if you think, that on occasion, they cry too loudly or protest too quickly, take a look sometime at what's on the books and how it got to be "on the books" and how quickly it got to be "on the books" and how little the general public really knew about it. We should all be more concious of what the civil liberty services provide. |

You betcha! I hope they pass this because having an autistic child i
really worry about my son. In the event he was hurt in an accident they would know of his autism. |
