If you are into web design and development are you happy with your
current web host? If you are can you post who they are and why you are
happy with them.

I ask this because I have been very happy with my current web host for
several years mainly due to the level of service I get from them.
However, for the past month that level of service and support has
decreased dramatically do to the owner of the web hosting service
having a stroke.

I have pretty much decided to switch hosting companies because I have
found a very highly rated one that offers far more for a fraction of the
current costs.

I am really curious to see if any of you are dealing with the one I
found and if so what your thoughts are on it. I have found nothing but
good words about the one I have found online by third party evaluations
as well.

The amount of services they provide for the money is incredible.

Hey Kevin, Sorry I did not write to you about this. I will though as
there are so many good deals out there. Don't BUY until you see if you
get cpanel or some scaled down version where they want to charge you for
the other services. At almost all of them - they offer a huge amount of
space for 3.95 a month but WITHOUT cpanel/fantastico. Been there, done
that.


ALSO, do not buy from anyone who does not have a phone number listed or
has offshore servers. That it nothing but trouble. If the servers are
not in the US or Canada they are not governed by US laws. I had some
good luck with some in Canada some time ago but then that fizzled out
also. I finally found a GOOD COMPANY that does not charge an arm and a
leg, and they have reseller packages too.

Ok so you all know I did change hosting providers this past weekend and
found the new providers support level less then ideal. However the
amount of benefits of being with them far outweigh my needs for support.
I feel comfortable I have made a wise decision.

To give you an idea on how big this host is they were supporting 170,000
domain names last Sunday and Wednesday evening they were supporting over
200,000 domain names that is an average growth rate of 10,0000 name per
day. Pretty impressive in my eyes.

I don't have any great tales to tell of web hosts, but I can pass along
two with whom I was far less than pleased:

1) rackspace — they claimed 99.99% uptime, but we were down almost every
month, so our system admin switched... apparently the uptime percentage
didn't take our dedicated server into account

2) hosting.com — this goes back several years now, but they were wholy
unreliable, then started billing us (and we didn't have the contract
with them, our system admin did)... it was a horrible fiasco and the
errant billings kept coming for months until we were able to straighten
it all out

Well I am a couple weeks into this new host and I am overall very happy
with them. I have even put up a link on my website to promote their
service.

I did alot of research and I do not think I could have found a better
solution for my needs then they offered. My old web hostactually asked
what it would take to get me back. I simply told them what I was offered
at this new host and they did not even reply as my hosting package is
better then my web host gets from his provider.

I think as soon as the owner of my old host comes back to work from his
strike I will be able to switch him to my current host. The deal is
amazing and the price is great. for under 100 dollars a year I am
getting 8 static dedicated IP addresses 300 MySql Databases and ungodly
storage and bandwidth limits. That is just to name a few things. If you
email me on here I can give you more details but I do not want to
solicite on this site.

Wha hoo migrated 5 more domain names to the new hosting service today on
a separate account. Should be propigated tomorrow sometime.

I got three more to move in the next couple days as well onto yet
another account. I think that My old host is starting to feel the
pressure now a bit as this week will make like 14 domain names that I
have pulled from them. Odd are I will also be pulling yet another
account from them as well that I referred to them about a year ago as
well.

I think they are going to be very sorry they decided that my were not
important. When the owner of the old web host comes back to work he will
definately notice what has happened as he is losing several hundred
dollars a year from my family alone. I am going to get him to migrate
from his web hosting provider to my new one as well for a commission on
it if at all possible.
