Her hand shakes
The blade flashing in the light
No answers, no questions
She breathes deeply
Dragging the blade across her thigh
Must let it our, it can no longer be contained
This emotion she buries so deep
Cannot let anyone see
This pain, so alive, breathing on its own
Blade ripping her tender skin, blood welling up, spilling from the ragged gash
Biting her lip as tears slip from her eyes
Holding back a scream
Cannot let anyone hear
Blade clatters to the floor as it slips from her fingers
Blood pouring freely, running down her thigh, her knee, her calf, pooling around her feet
She quietly succumbs to defeat
Knees buckle, tumbling to the floor in a heap
Tears mixing and melding with her blood
No longer able to stop this emotional flood

"Tears mixing and melding with her blood
No longer able to stop this emotional flood"

Causes flash backs to lives of others I know.
Is there a mental belief that tears from emotional pain are some how less worthy? Does the phrase, "I'll give you a reason to cry" sound familiar and grounded in truth thereby needing a "physical cause" before the tears can be justified and allowed the cleansing flow? Then too what does the giving in to that physical urge provoke when all is said and done?

No, I'm not lecturing. I'm processing...............

Terrifying to experience when someone close to you does this - I know first hand. I can only imagine the feelings of the cutter. (((Cavatica)))-the emotion written here is almost painful to read. You really make one think-which is what a good writer does.flowerforyou
