My experience: Sending out first e-mails is a complete waste of time. (Disclaimer: this may or may not apply to Illinois only; how the hell would I know what happens anywhere else?) Nobody EVER replied to mine, even when they were witty and charming and contained car wash discounts.
The only way to get noticed here, as far as I've seen, is to post in the forums -- let people get to know you, while you get to know who's who here. Once they see you have something to say, once you've made them think or laugh or want to shoot poison darts at you, you'll get mail. Trust me, I get mail here. And I NEVER send out first e-mails. I don't have to anymore. |
