why confess your sins if GOd already knows what they are?

Oh he knows mine and so does have the Catholic nuns heck spent most of my younger years on my knees confessing my sins proud to say have not done anything major in over 10 years

anyone is aware of their sins, many are proud and feel no remorse from them

i hated to have to go to confession, and when i did i lied about what i had done anyway - so it did me no good at all, i think confessing ones sins to a man is stupid and he has no power to forgive anyway - only the god has, so whats the point? i also got kicked out of school for a week for taking goldfish food and giving everyone in my class holy communion before the teacher came in and caught me. I also drank holy water - well - tasted it ant way - then spit it out they had some incense or bad tasting oil or crap they added to it - of course no one knows that unless like me they tasted it - needless to say i was not looked on as a good little catholic boy -

Well I ended up in public school gave the nun's a break and me one. I think that Catholic religion is just that Catholic just like any other religion we all have own way of believing in god or who they believe in. Hell or heaven been to both just know that I am not signing up for another tour of duty in this place they call earth. The priest hmmm your right a human forgiving another human stop doing that a long long time ago but I will say drinking holy water geez you gave the nuns a run for their money which they really don't have any since they rely on our donations to keep things running, don't see to many around anymore. I don't know if it is out of habit or what but I do attend church on
Sundays I go there to try and be closer to my god.

and i really disagree on your ideas here, if your not godly than sin isnt in your vocabulary, so you should only know that people that are religious should answer to this post, if not religious than at least believe in god... in the bible it tells you what a sin is. their is no cross interpretations of it or misrepresentations of it. you are a secular person, so a sin is a defilement in god, or a person or yourself... thats it. thats all.

Sin is a man-made concept. Think for yourself and determine what's right and what's wrong.

They know its offensive to others. They are grown-ups too.

Beg your pardon, I'm not trying to be offensive, I'm simply trying to do my part to help our species evolve. I'm partially okay with religion, but christianity and catholicism, I genuinely feel, should be educated out of existence. No one thing has caused as much human death and suffering as those two religions, so yes, I'll be a little confrontational to people who defend it like it's gospel, which it obviously isn't.

(You can be religious if you get up every morning and brush your teeth religiously.)

But if you mean that only Christians should answer this post or any religious doctrine that subscribes to the idea of "sin" then you are excluding some people and I believe that is against forum rules.

I'm not too familiar with the term "secular person" and I don't know what you mean by that either.

I am well aware that the Bible tells you what "sin" is and that is my point. Outside of the Bible the word has absolutely no meaning at all. It is owned by religious doctrine.
