Topic: Passing the Buck?

A few posts and threads made me think.....

In general, I am tired of people passing the buck. People not taking
responsibility for their action's. Condoning, trying to reason, excuse
or justify a wrong someone has committed just doesn't make sense.

Far too often society coddle's the scammers, drunks, druggies, rapists,
pimps, pedophiles, gang bangers, murderers, abusers, etc. etc. I am not
heartless. I do believe that people that commit these wrongs need help,
and there may very well be hidden factors in their lives that aided in
them to behave in such a destructive and malicious manner, but one would
think half of the earth's population cannot be held responsible for
their action's due to one of hundred's of affliction's or past trauma?!
Most people have had some pain, past hurt, but have stepped up and
worked their way through it versus using it as an excuse to be
destructive and not take responsibility for their action's.

Am I alone in this thinking?

grumble where i live we recently had a national trial for a pedophile
that kidnapped, raped and murdered a 9yr old girl, he took her in the
middle of the night right out of her bed, he lived across the street,
raped her and then buried her alive in a garbage bad in his back yard,
when he was convicted to prison his attorneys excuse for
this...................... he was abused and molested as a
child....................so fkn what so was i and im not a murderer and
child molester and the jury felt the same way...................and i
hope and i know he will get what he has coming when he is in
prison:angry:

The whole concept of "personal accountability" has gone out the window.
He did _________ because __________, therefore it wasn't his fault.
Nobody looks at the fact that he CHOSE to do ________________ . It's a
lot easier to blame someone or something else, than to say, "Hey, I'm
making some bad decisions here and I need to reevaluate some things."

You are not alone in this. Everyone IS responsible for thier own
actions. Even if the are drunk or what ever. It is easy to blame others
for our own actions, but in reality, We are the sculptures that mold the
clay of our lives.

I totally agree.

However, I think that sometimes there are inequities in how
justice is applied.

For example, if you are rich and kill someone while
driving drunk you can get a good lawyer and possibly
get a reduced sentence or none at all.

If you are poor and do the same thing, you get the
book thrown at you.

So, while I believe that people should be responsible
for their actions, I think that justice should be
applied more evenly across all economic levels.

for everybody,it comes down to just one question...

before that crime is committed, ask this:

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

I agree with what you are each saying. Yes, there has to be
accountability and if there is justice, is should be equal for all.

If we could find answers by asking what would Jesus do, the world would
not be such that it is today. Gone are the days of innocense.
