Winx,

That is a Missouri Synod Lutheran school correct. Not a Wisconson Synod Lutheran school. Use to party with those folks...they are a bit on the liberal side.

Who sends their child to a church school and expects them to be taught non-secular doctrine?

That is not the issue at all.

The issue was that Obama is not Muslim. The teacher gave the impression to the children that he wasn't 100% sure if Obama was Muslim or not.

State boundaries have nothing to do with it. There are theological/doctrinal differences.

And you thought computers were confusing. Church history is a downright brain fog.

Lutheran schools don't have a Christian agenda?
the Christian right has no agenda to label Obama a Muslim? Boy am I mistaken. What was I thinking?

Just because someone is a Christian doesn't mean that they shouldn't know basic facts about Obama. I am voting for him.

I think you might be confusing all Christians with right-wing extremists.flowerforyou

I'm not lumping all Christians into the right-wing extremist catagory but why be surprised to find one there? They lurk everywhere. The military is a known place of right-wing supporters (yes, yes, I know, not all), so would it surprise you to find extemists there too? To one extent or another you would have to consider Christianity in opposition to Islam if only in the battle for human souls. So, for a Christian to mistrust a candidate they perceive to be muslim is not outside the realm of possibility if only for the political agenda they may bring based on their own religion. But to mistrust and label him anything without facts in the ear-mark of an extremist.

Is this a good time to interject that the Electoral College is required to follow majority votes in only 29 states?
And that the electoral members vote separately for presidential and vice-presidential candidates?

In other words...if you live in one of the other states, the majority vote for the party is not all that conclusive, nor is it conclusively for both candidates of any party in any state.

My concern is whether the electoral votes will put an entirely different duo into the seats of power than everyone expects.

For the basics of how the Electoral Vote works, an explanation is available

One thing we should all realize from the last 8 years is the Moral Majority is responcible for George Bush Presidency.

Why? The republicans light is they are against abortion and the democrats are for it.

So it is like a blinding light what a man says not what a man does has been thier philosify.

Can anyone tell me what George Bush did for eliminating Abortion in the last 8 years?

Nothing.

Yet he lies to our face and we grin and say he is our man, well the MM crowd at least which is very strong.

So what about now? One big deal is Iraq.

No doubt Senator Mccain is a war hero. Does he want to continue being one?

When asked how long he meant by untill we get the job done in Iraq he said no timetable. So the reporter said 20 years? yes 50 years ?yes

We know we have never left Germany since WW2.

Will we leave Iraq?

Obama may be young and somewhat inexperienced.

That is what the United States Congress was meant to be.

New Blood coming in with zeal wanting to get things done fired up you might say.

What do we have now? It is a career. It is the peoples fault really and the system of taking care of back home is not as important well at least untill it is an election year.

Now we have the good ole boys club you scratch my back and i will scratch yours.

I would just look at where we were when that Evil Clinton guy was in office and how our country was and how it is now.

It says alot about what party is for who.IMO Miles

Democrats are not "for abortions". They are "for choice".

And....not all Democrats are "for choice".

I am Pro Choice. That doesn't mean that I endores abortion as a form of birth control. What it does mean is that there are situations in which abortion should be allowed.

I'm sorry but I don't think of McCain as a war hero. He was never awarded the Medal of Honor. He was shot down.

Evil Clinton? When he was in office, our debt was hundreds of billions of dollars lower than it is now with Bush. I, also, know that we had more money in our pocket. Gas was around $1.15 a gallon too. What do you pay now under Bush? The dollar was worth a heck of a lot more then.

Finally a few who makes sense... I will not vote for Obama b/c he is black nor b/c he is not white, nor will I vote for McCain b/c he is white or not vote for him b/c he's not black. It's not about color it's about who can run our country and be a spokesperson for our country the BEST... I'm not really liking either choice but it's all we're being offered so I have to choose one... But ethnicity will not be my deciding factor.

Ps- Obama IS NOT Muslim... Why don't people read and research rather than slinging mud on at EITHER candidate!!!!

This is all people know. No one can stand up for McCain or Obama.

(The only reason i fear Obama just a little more is because of the majority of his followers i swear remind me of people following a cult. They can't explain why, the are just compelled.)

Truth is the more homework you do, the more in common you find the two candidates....

The only points on which the candidates differ are the ones that wont leave a big impact on our country...

To reimburse me $5000 a year, McCain wants to tax my employer paid health insurance benefit, never done in history. Obama wants to tax individuals earning over $250,000 a year to fund his plan. I don't know if that affects your part of the country, but it will have a BIG impact on my part of the country. There ARE quite a few differences in the two candidates.

IMO Extremists believe that 'born a Muslim, always a Muslim'. Because Obama has Muslim roots, he will always be Muslim and be compelled to side with them in a conflict, despite the fact that he, himself, believes himself to be Christian. Go figure! frown

His stepfather, Lolo Soetoro was Muslim; in a general way. Islam is the religion of a majority of Indonesians. His wife, however, did not hold the same beliefs.

Obama studied the Koran, but is not Muslim.

Barack Obama has arguably the most diverse religious background of any candidate, ever. He was raised in Indonesia by a Christian mother and Muslim stepfather, and attended a Catholic school, but while growing up, also studied Islam. That background sparked rumors that he had studied in a radical madrasa, or Koranic school – rumors later disproved . Obama is now a practicing Christian.

Learning about different religions doesn't mean that you practice that religion.

If it does then I'm a Buddhist, Catholic, Jewish, Christian, Protestant.

I like learning about different religions. It reveals how people think about their spirituality , their lives, and how they perceive others..
