My oldest son put himself thru automechanics school, owns a home, married, and bought a sucessful business with his wife, and coaches soccer and is an elder in his church besides being a dad.

My next child is serving his country in the Navy and a leader in his NCO association. After training himself in prosthetics production as a volunteer at a VA hospital. He was a scholarship student in community college for scholastic excellence in highschool despite his Daddy dying at 15. He is a homeowner, married, and a dad of two.

I have helped numerous family members and have supported a childless neighbor and and elderly father for over a half a decade. I am a homeowner, own my vehicles, and contribute to charities on a regular basis. The college I have attended I paid for or earned for scholastic excellence. I did this without childsupport from my children's birthfather who kept our home and business and all but one vehical that I had worked and paid for.

I have foster kids that have graduated and trained themselves in a variety of trades. And volunteered literally thousands of hours to various community programs.

I also had a profoundly disabled child that actually graduated high school, worked, and attended community college and married the mother of his two children before concieving them. He was overwhelmed by drugs that were introduced to him in the workplace and her family when as and adult he could not get mental health services but he did not abuse his children and saw to it they had shelter as long as she would let him know where they were.

I say this because I think it is important for single parents to stand up and say that they are self supporting and have successful children that are contributeing to the community despite overwhelming odds. I am sick and tired of single parents being blamed for the failure of this country. So all you parents out there join in and bang your chest a little bit. I know there are a lot of you on this site that are great parents and hardworking people!!!!
