Do people who have these delusions believe what they say, or do they do it to make themselves look better but deep down know who they are?

I'm curious, I go back and forth on it.

Both. Some people think they are better than they are, some just try to make others think more highly of them. Either way its fkd up, people should try to be humble.

Those that are truly psychotic, do believe it.

Those that just have a big 'ego', may believe some of it, but I have a feeling they make themselves bigger b/c of lack of self-esteem.

For many people grandeur is a delusion, but for some it is just being realistic. I would have to know specifically who you're talking about to know if that person's belief in his/her own grandeur is delusional--and in any case, I would have to admit that I don't really care one way or the other.

Someone with delusions of grandeur is always much easier to work with (not to mention trust) than a person putting on an act of humility. I hope this is helpful. yours in Chaos, Scarlett

It depends on their illness and severity.

When i do not see joy in my pain, i tend to cast blame, which can lead to dilusions of grandeur... however, when i point one finger at someone or something, there are always three pointing back at me.

Now that brings up a question that's actually sort of interesting:

Could those without medical degrees who diagnose others on an internet social site forum be said to be suffering from delusions of grandeur...?

You need a medical degree now to tell if someone's lieing about their life?

The question may be, who's settled for an indecent level of mediocrity, or have they just not known anything better.
