I still can't believe that 21 states allow paddling in school.

The one and only time I got threatened with a paddle at school was when I was in 6th grade, back in '75. I told the teacher that he'd have an easier time hitting a home run with a golf club. I was already about 5'8", and 170 lbs. He thought for a second, and started laughing, and then we talked for about 10 minutes about how I just needed to chill out..

Baffle 'em with BowlSheet..

Got paddled once for not telling on someone
the next time I refused to take a paddling and made them call my parents

I don't want any teacher hitting my children
if you have a problem disciplining them call me, and rest assured the teacher won't have that problem again

It's interesting reading the perspectives on this subject.

Times have changed. My elementary school allowed paddling. But certainly that's not what kept me in line. There was a belt waiting for me at home if I got out of line.

Schools face an impossible challenge. They are expected to teach discipline but are not given the authority or support to accomplish it. And the parents often do not stand behind the faculty when their children become a problem. Problem children often have problem parents. I see parents of misbehaving children screaming at teachers, blaming the them and the faculty for not keeping their children in line. And the child then learns that there are no consequences for their actions. They learn that they don't have to resepect adults and authority (yes, I do realize that many adults and some authority figures don't deserve respect, but that's a whole differenct discussion).

I don't want the schools paddling my children (they're all really too old now anyhow). But my children knew growing up that if they misbehaved that there would be a consequence. And if it was at school, it would probably be even worse. Parents need to do their job at home and be supportive of those trying to teach their children.

Naw. During a dinner date I found out that he believed that paddling should be allowed in schools. I didn't.

He said at his school, the kids had a choice of being paddled or tell the parents. He took the paddling and his parents never knew.

That is just so wrong to me. I, as a parent, would want to know if my child was paddled. And I promise that it would never happen again.

Then I searched the topic and found out that it is legal in 21 states.

But...secretly...this is all a cloak for trying to get kinky.
