Did you actually do a background check or just google around the internet to see what you could turn up yourself??? Just curious...

The way I look at it, I'm pretty clueless, so the odds of me finding out any information to hold against somebody is pretty slim. I hope to one day aspire to know something really juicy, but I know if I do, I'll have to tell someone, which makes it public knowledge. Once it's public knowledge, you're not supposed to use that kind of info to hold a grudge, because "everyone knows that."

Now if someone found out something about me, I'd hope they'd confront me. Really, I didn't know there was anything about me to find out, I'd kind of like to know what it is. I hope it's something truly scandelous. Maybe that I was an international spy or something like that, that'd be cool to find out about myself.

i think the excuse could be made, you 'read into it' wrong or its 'just' a message board or just the internet or you're being paranoid but we all know truth speaks for itself. (i didn't know if you meant background checks or what)
