Topic: Why is it sooooooo difficult...

To show your ID when asked for it when your buying tabacco or alcohol? Its not the persons fault who's behind the counter. At the very least it could be their job, most is their freedom. Sorry just got yelled at by some "kid" at work for asking for his ID.

My job requires .. "if they don't look 40" then ID them. Just keep doing your job.

I know exactly what you mean. And my reply is always the same. "It's not only the policy in our store, it's the law." That usually shuts them up pretty quick.

My job requires .. "if they don't look 40" then ID them. Just keep doing your job. That's what our policy is. I work at Walmart. Ours is if they look under 30, but still get yelled at. I figure if they look young enough to be mine, then........I ask. Just gets irritating when I get yelled at, or even when they have someone else buy it for them and I have to say no, because that is also illeagal.

I know how you feel... when I use to work at gas stations years ago... I carded just about everyone b/c I wasn't going to get stuck paying a fine and getting in trouble. I know its frustrating but you just have to blow it off and know that if they give you a hassle they probably aren't old enough to buy it.

This place that I buy my smokes from sometimes, has this picture of this older gentleman say about 60; his hair is white and on the picture it say we ID until you look like Gord. I cracked up laughing the first time the guy behind the counter told me. I wonder if he knows I will NEVER look like Gord. But know matter how many times I show him my ID he still continues to ask. It really does get annoying after awhile.

It's better to ask and get yelled at than not to ask and get fined 500.00 big ones-the one that sold it and the owner gets fined alot more than that and then they can't sell tobacco products on a day that the board sets aside for them....not good so yeah I'll take the yelling!!! Have a good one....
