Topic: AHHH NEED Words Processer & Virus Help ASAP!!! | |
---|---|
OK, my free trial just ended with Microsoft Ofice Word 2007. I have a paragraph due for English on Monday. I NEED to know if there are any word processors out there that I can download that are still compatible with Microsoft Word as that is what I will be printing it off of at school.
And while I am at it I JUST got a worm or a virus Avast can not seem to be able to tell me NOR can it get rid of it. I am really freaking out over here! |

Openoffice.org have an open source version that might be of use to you.
With regards to the virus, go to the symantec web site and run the on line scanner, sometimes they provide free tools for removal. |

I am really freaking out over here! you can either get openoffice.org, or abiword for your word processing needs. one is a full productivity suite while the other (abiword) is just a word processor with none of the other stuff included. both are open-source, which means that they're free. Avast! should get rid of the offending worm or virus by itself. all that should need to take place is your clicking "remove virus". you might also need to invest in some anti-spyware apps too, like spybot search-and-destroy, spyware blaster, ad-aware free 2008 or spyware terminator. all are free so there is nothing that needs to be spent. you should also download a software firewall if you haven't already. i use comodo firewall pro which has a malware scanner included. it's also free. |

I told it to send it to the chest and it told me it did I looked and it was there so I deleted it and it will still not allow me to install anything on into my computer. Found out that it is Malware.

then your malware scanners should have detected and killed it. that goes especially for spybot search-and-destroy, which is really good at getting rid of the stuff.
perplexing, indeed. |

Would a system restore help?

For you word processing problem, changing it to rich text. With your paper in rich text, you can open it in your wordpad and also be able to move it to any computer with any type of word processing program. Office will then be able to open it also.

Would a system restore help? i wouldn't think so, as it would only put your computer back to a previous state. but you can certainly try... just be careful. |
