I've started several successful businesses. The first when I was 18 and everyone was telling me all the reasons that I couldn't...especially my boss. Need attorneys, incorporation, etc. I just bought a house and quit my job so it HAD to work. It did. Spent 10 bucks on a business license, got registered as a sole proprietor, and put an ad in the paper for computer repairs and programming. SERVICE businesses where you need little money and the liability is low are the easiest to start and manage. It ALWAYS costs you 3 to 4 times as much as you thought it would to start up a business, especially one with inventory or where licenses are required. But, you only can make as much money as you have hours in a day. Even at 100/hour, you are not going to get rich like that.
I saw on TV the other night where this guy was painting tennis shoes for ..hoodlums at 1500 bucks a pair and thought..that would be better with a computerized embroidery machine, which is a relatively small investment. Your best bet is to do what you know and enjoy... and never think that people will not pay premium for something that they do not need. They will if you choose your market correctly. |

seriously, you need to determine what it is you like to do and know something about. I mean I could tell you to open a locksmith store, but if you hate locks or know nothing about them, then that wold not be a good choice. So give us some idea to go by.
