Last night I was having a very unpleasant and ridiculous dream. I seem to have been some character (unknown to me) and I had been abducted by some crazy serial killer and his mom. They were both obviously insane.

I could see that the dream was leading to a nightmare type experience and so I played along with the characters and controlled my fear in an effort to prevent the unfoldment of the nightmare. I began acting as crazy as the two characters who had abducted me. They seemed amused.

Then there was a point in the dream where I clearly realized I was dreaming. I remembered that if you realize that you are actually dreaming, you have a good chance of controlling the dream scape.

I could not collect my focus enough to change the dream scape so I decided just to wake myself up while I was still in a lucid state of awareness. I didn't like this ridiculous dream and I wanted out of it.

I like having lucid dreams and I have found if a dream is irritating or unpleasant, I can either change it or just wake up at will.

Has anyone ever experienced lucid dreaming, and if so, what happened?

(If you slip back into believing the dream, you loose your lucidity and you loose your control of it and your power to escape it.)

I stood there in the midst of the dream scape, which was a scene of a cluttered house in the mountains somewhere.
I concentrated on opening my eyes. (My real physical eyes)
and it did not take long before I woke up and opened my eyes.

Yea I have controlled my dreams before.
I had a re-ocurrent dream when I was a little girl, it was a monster chasing me through the woods and he or she had a mask on. I dreamt this dream over and over. I was like 7.
So I told my mom, and she said to next time not to run, but to tear the mask of the person that was chasing me. So I did, and I never had that dream again.

That is amazing. Perhaps it is a classic dream because my monster was a giant wild boar. It was always chasing me and I was terrified.

In one dream I was in charge of taking care of some younger children and the monster boar was going to kill me and then all of the children so I knew I had to face the monster and fight.

I turned to face him and he was on top of me about to chomp my face. I reached out with my right hand and there on the ground was a knife. I took the knife and slit his throat.

I could feel the warm blood surging from his throat and I felt him go limp and die.

I never had that dream again.

I think it is very symbolic dream to teach us to face our deepest fears. Face the monster what ever it is.
