Their new CD comes out Sept. 12th! I'm psyched for it. I know a lot of people that used to like Metallica but now they don't due to St. Anger but I've remained a fan for over 10 years now. I've heard some songs off their new CD and I gotta say (to me, anyway) it sounds like a bit of a mix between "Ride The Lightning" (with shredding guitar riffs and ear peircing, brain melting solos) and "Load" (with a bit of harmony and maturity to the lyrics). All in all I do believe it will be a very well spent $20 on my part.
The only thing that could make this CD any better is if Hetfield could go back to the shrieking days of "Kill Em All" and "Ride The Lightning". I think that would fall in a little better with the instrumentals and lyrics. |

i am more into old 80s metallica, but their new stuff already sounds a whole lot better than that pitiful last album St Anger

Not a big fan of Metallica, but I like them. Gotta agree with older Metallica though. Maybe cuz I grew up in '80's metal. I prefer Judas Priest- in fact I have them on now. As far as I'm concerned, Rob Halford has the best scream for that music. Great that Metallica has a new one coming, might have to check that out !!!

I like metallica, but only have the 5 essentials. Ride the Lightning, Kill them All, Justice for All, Master of Puppets, Black Album. After that their style kind of changed. My friend mentioned it was more old school so I might get this one.

Yup, went out and got their new cd. I love it. Especially The Unforgiven III. But I haven't found a single song on that cd that I don't like. Not to mention the music store f*cked up and I only had to pay $7 instead of the actual price of $15. Not sure how it happened, they scanned the barcode, it popped up as $7, they didn't notice, so I didn't point it out.

METALLICA ROCK!!!!!!!

My Apocalypse has to be the best song on there. I also think that this was the closest to old metallica they have been in a long time.

Is it bad to say I'm already tired of the new Metallica single? There are 3 rock stations here and they play the song once every hour. And since the song is 7 minutes long the stations usually over lap each other with the same song! ahhhh
And they won't even play the new Queen song or the new ACDC song |

i'm gonna download the whole CD just to piss Metallica off and give them something else to whine about....

I haven't liked Metallica since the 80's ("...Justice" was their last great album, in my opinion), but what you've said has intruiged me, maybe I'll check it out.
Cheers! |
