spent my whole life wading in the pool of just out of reach
never taking the time to swim out away from the warm,
safe beach
now I'm wondering if it's too late to out and get a good wave
is what I'm looking for just out of sight should I dive in and get away

standing on the shore of my whole life
I've made a comfortable spot by the bonfire light
looking out on the ocean of possibility
Sometimes I wonder how many ships have gone by
I should've been on but was too afraid to try
to swim a few yards out in to the sea
