My dad is 84 years old and very stubborn and bull headed. He had surgery on his hand last week due to carpal tunnel, then on Tuesday, he had an emergency appendectomy...

He is not supposed to drive for 6 weeks, and what did he do...drove his car today so he could get a haircut and had a wreck...and refuses to go to the doctor to be seen....

does anyone else have problems with their parents not minding what they are supposed to be doing...

My parents are old too...I hate it when my son and I have to get in the car with them.

my dad lives 4 hours away from me, but when we are in town, I refuse to let him drive...either my son or I drive, or we take our own car.

I think it is just that loss of control they feel as they age. More people are telling them what they should and shoudln't do. The role reversal feels devestating to them.
