Frozen solid, nothing could penetrate
Shutting out all that was pure and true
Nothing could get past my cold dead stare
Fingers of ice gripped me ,held me in check
Like watching a deadly car wreck
From the twisted metal and shattered glass I rose
Spreading my wings, flying towards home
Wrapped in ice, naked and alone
I faltered, stumbled and crawled
Unable to attain flight, unable to see past the night
My time had not yet come, heaven was just a lie
Hell was the past, stumbling over stones and broken glass
Burning brightly yet never seeing the light for what it was
I tried to run and hide, chase you away, my feelings of unworthiness built up inside
Acting like I didn't care, trying to control my cold dead stare
You ...you saw past it all, the illusion I had created
Knew the ice was but a falsehood, the frozen state I had been in nothing more than suspended animation
You looked at me, touched me and it all melted away
Clothed me with your cloak of love, warmed my frozen heart
Heaven no longer a lie, hell just the past
No longer stumbling over stones and broken glass
Cold dead stare replaced with warm tender glances of you
