As a surgical nurse I have held the human heart in my hand, cold, lifeless and still. And then to see it writhe furiously and finally with consistant rhythm and purpose. I have seen testicles turned inside out, and Mr. Happy too. Only he wasn't very happy at all. The brain throbbing, the bowels leaking some of the worst funk you can imagine, no worse than that. I have participated in organ "recovery" formerly known as "harvests" And on the other end when someone receives that gift of life from an anonymous stranger in the middle of the night.
I have never seen a soul, mind, Spirit, or Presence inside a human body. It exists just as sure as we breathe, but it is experienced by our own. |
