Yeah, we also used to have a right to habeas corpus:

"The November 13, 2001, Presidential Military Order gave the President of the United States the power to detain suspects, suspected of connection to terrorists or terrorism as an unlawful combatant. As such, it was asserted that a person could be held indefinitely without charges being filed against him or her, without a court hearing, and without entitlement to a legal consultant. Many legal and constitutional scholars contended that these provisions were in direct opposition to habeas corpus and the United States Bill of Rights."

Habeas corpus has been suspended before in this country in times of war.

In fairness one could argue that when president Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War it was open ended. He did not know when or if that war would end. Still,I think there was a clear distinction between those times and now. We had a clearly defined enemy even if it was our fellow citizens. We were a nation divided....(don't make me say it)

The war on terror is potentially never ending.

So, here we are as Americans, on our knees surrendering our most cherished principles, attacking each other, abandoning the democratic principals that our founders died to defend, pointing fingers at each other, using obscenities like un-American, surrendering our privacy, our right to free travel and free association without government interference, being suspect for asking questions...guess what you sheep...the terrorist won...look who is profiting...

wouldn't suprise me if they could already tell how voters vote. While it may not be public info, it still strips away your right of privacy. Don't really care if anyone knows how I vote anyway, but if you tell me I GOT to tell you,
