So maybe if your Prof had a Gun or a Taser They would be able to handle a out of control person before they hurt, or killed someone, like the guy did in west virginiafrustrated

I remember my band teacher from high school once telling me that when she taught in Chicago, she carried a snub nose .32 with her at all times. She said that it was about the only way she could guarentee that she was going to make it home in the evening.

That was 20+ years ago.

Today, I just don't know. Everyone has the right to protect their person, but a loaded gun in a public place is foolish. A person has to be willing to pull that trigger, or that thing is useless. A person being willing to use it is not a guarentee that they will be able to either. You don't always see trouble coming, so that thing could easily be taken away from you and then used on you.

Maybe what we should do is ban children instead. That way, we don't have to worry about them getting shot.

Ban children to what. How many are on the street now. And not just in the inner city. The most popular school violence, didnt happen in the inner city school. frustrated

What really needs to happen is that parents need to take responsibility for the teachings of their children.

What happened to respecting your elders, respecting anyone in authority. 20 yrs ago if we talked to our parents or teachers or acted the way kids act today we surely would be in trouble. I am not saying that it is ok to beat your kids but my punishments was never so severe that I would be considered abused in anyway but when I was spanked I learned a lesson from them.

Maybe our economy needs to get much better so that at least one parent can be in the house when the kids come home. And parents need to know where their children are at all times, who they are hanging out with and actually teach our children to be respectable, productive, honest, reliable human beings.

They must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun, must be authorized to carry by the district and must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations and have to use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls.

Superintendent David Thweatt said the small community is a 30-minute drive from the sheriff's office, leaving students and teachers without protection.

Texas law outlaws firearms on school campuses "unless pursuant to the written regulations or written authorization of the institution."

The 110-student district is 150 miles northwest of Fort Worth on the eastern end of Wilbarger County, near the Oklahoma border.

Hello.......does that justify a teacher carrying a gun.....Hell no........so the teacher has a bad day and goes postal on all the students....

Hello stupid school district hire a cop.......or bring in security.........Oh what is this world coming to.

No I mean place a ban on having children. It seems to me that every topic discussed anymore has to end with the phrase "what about the children?" Well, what about them? I'm tired of it.

When adults, those of us that survived childhood, have had to start curtailing their lives in every direction because something "might" happen. Well, it doesn't happen any more frequently now than it did 100 years ago. What has changed is how quickly everyone finds out about it. We all worry too much about what might happen and not enough about what is. We curtail every part of society for those that misbehave, but leave nothing for those that apply themselves and do right by others.

Fear, the useful tool of those that wish to restrict your rights.

actually last semester when the guy started attack people in my class my school police officer was there within 1 min. because we have one in every building.

thats whats wrong with a lot of schools.

they have a few on campus but not in every building.

id much rather a guy with a gun be shooting people than every teacher having one and a guy grabbing one out of their hand and shooting us anyways

{{{jt}}} You have said it all, makes me sick to think that teachers can ALSO have guns, bad enough that the kids have them. Go back to old fashioned coporal punishment, whip their asses, crack their knuckles, but no guns. What is this world coming too when someone thinks this is okay to do. Two wrongs DO NOT make a right. I am all for gun rights but not in schools, by either teachers or students.

Guns are NOT the answer. End of story.

Give them all ridlyn. That's been the answer in most schools. Drug any kid that doesn't pay attention or is unruly.

I REALLY hope you are joking there! noway

YES! Of course I was joking! But then, that does seem to be what many teachers, parents and doctors want kids that don't pay attention or are unruly to be on lately. Scary!
