when a person of interest you meet online tells you that they have genital herpes on the first date when you meet them?

I had this situation with a woman this past weekend and when she asked if we could go out again, I told her; "I need to think more about it."

Well I think it was great that she told you. But I would run like hell.

I can not answer that question because I have no idea either. Unless I want the person to make sure they have taken their pill every hour on the hour, I can't say what my reaction would be in this situation. whoa

I personally wouldn't pursue it, but if you really like this person, maybe you could do some research on it, talk to your physician, or even talk to the woman herself to see what options are available, what precautions have to be taken, or even if there is anything to worry about at all.

The problem with STDs like genital herpes is that you can still get it even if they've been undergoing all sorts of suppressive therapy and they're not showing any lesions and stuff.

You're probably better off cutting her loose and going for someone else.

I think you are taking the level headed approach. If it were me, I would have probably just ended things. I appreciate the honesty, but their is no way I could pursue anything.

Given that pursuing a relationship with someone who has this becomes not an "if" but a "when" you catch it, too, I think I have thought about it long enough..I'm running!

All depends on how much u care,an STD is bad but losing out on a genuine person is worse.Everyone has some sort of past luggage haunting them, that jus happens to be one that u will carry too hehe, but you should appreciate the fact they told u...theres something to that. The fact they were honest says a lot about character, but the affliction tears aways the balance...do what u think is right. No opinion can make your decision for u,your the one that has to live with it..

Kinda one of those WOW I didn't know that things. I didn't know it was that prevalent.

"One out of five adolescents and adults, have had genital HSV infection. Over the past decade, the percent of Americans with genital herpes infection in the U.S. has decreased.

Genital HSV-2 infection is more common in women (approximately one out of four women) than in men (almost one out of eight). This may be due to male-to-female transmission being more likely than female-to-male transmission"
