If you are going to provide a tech support department for your company, why would you not hire knowledgeable staff? I mean really is it all that hard?

I was having problems with the touch pad on my laptop, and called up the company to get help with fixing it. After uninstalling and reinstalling the software, and doing a system restore and a system recovery, and numorous other trouble shooting options, this guy tries to telling me that he is PRETTY sure that I have to reinstall my operating system, but unfortunately i would not be able to safe anything, that I would lose it all. I was like that that seems like a pretty drastic measure to take, for something you are only pretty sure about. And that you are only pretty sure that is will solve my problem. And that I was not about to lose everything on my computer like that. He then goes on to say that he guarantees it will work. I was like WTF! Just two seconds ago you were only pretty sure. I then demanded to speak to somebody that could give me a 100% guarantee. He switched me over to somebody else, who did a disk check on my computer which seams to have solved my problem.

What I do not understand is WHY the other guy could not have just done that. If I had not demanded to speak to somebody else. I would have been spending 3 hours reinstalling my OS and another 2 hours installing service pack one all over again. frustrated frustrated

So you are expecting quality customer service?

That is the problem with expectations they often let you down..

Specially when it comes to customer service in America.....You are so much smarter than that????

If I am paying for the service then yes I expect knowledgeable people.

I really do not think that is too much to ask.frown

I know what ya' mean.

You pay hundreds for lets say a fancy PC, you get a little newbish and something looks weird. Get on the blower and the Tech are like 'Dude! Omg your OS is screwed' and you go 'It's only a bloody program! Gimme a chat with your supervisor' and you find out it's something minor like the Sound Card Application..

I mean If their going to have Tech Geeks in the subject atleast hire someone reasonable and qualified. Our £$ is paying your wages!

I'm talking gibberish, but parts make sense. Urgh it just cheeses me off.
