I'm thinking about joining the Peace Corps but I'm not too sure about
it. Has anybody joined or knows anybody who has? What areas are needed
right now for Peace Corps?

You should totally do it. Peace Corps members are in high demand all
over the world right now. Peace is not really in vogue at present. You
could easily be in Bolivia or Argentina or Mexico or someplace in a few
months doing one of the most impactful things you'll ever do. I'm
currently an Americorps*VISTA (basically the domestic Peace Corps), with
a bunch of friends in the corps, and I'd give it my highest
recommendation. Great way to get money for school, too.

Dude,

I totally agree. One of my good friends is in the Peace Corps and he
loves it. As soon as I can, I am going to do it also. You have to give
up materialistic living and be willing to change cultural habits and
learn a new language, but the experience is priceless. Rather than
wasting your time in the US, accumulating junk all your life, get out
there and do something (especially while you are young). Help people,
see the world, learn cool crap. Have experiences! Most people just float
along, and it's commendable that you're even considering this. I say do
it!
