Nope..not the one they got going on over in Beijing right now..I am talking about the SPECIAL Olympics..I know that several members of the site have disabled/differently abled children as I am and I was just wondering if any of them were ever able to take part in The Special Olympics as I did when I was younger and in school..I remember those days..so much fun!..especially when I got to come home in first place.

my son did at harvard ! Got 1st and 2nd place in running!!!

my son is a special needs child and when he was younger he was in a softball team that only delt with specail needs kids and it was awsome. with there inspiration

I competed in several races through out my childhood/school years..my FAVORITE teacher got me started in it and I went to them til the school made me stop.

The Paralympics starts not long after the Beijing Olympics ends..theres a girl from Bham going..I'm not sure but I think that's supposed to be held in Beijing too..I wasn't able to get that far with my races but I hope she brings home some GOLD!

Knew someone in Utah that competed in the wheelchair dash (100 yard I think). Pretty cool stuff, though I don't follow any olympics I think it is great to have an opportunity to compete in them no matter.

Yup..they are alot of fun..and for the participants..you're surrounded by people who are just like you..so for that day..at least for awhile..you're not being told or thinking about how different you are from everyone else..Plus it got me a day off of school when we went to it.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Mass..I just found the schedule for the Special Olympics on wikipedia..I love that site.
It's held in Beijing, China from September 6 - 17, 2008 and I'm pretty sure it will be televised because the other one is.
