I seem to be addicted to the computer today. Think it's time to go out for a swim and some sun.

Well if you ask them it is addiction, personally; I find that to be an excuse that someone uses when they don't want to do something (i.e. quit heroin, smoking). Explain how millions of people can do the same things but just as easy as they started they can walk away? And if you'd like to ask a past heroin user, just ask me. I did it for about a month, didn't like it so I quit doing it...how is that a difficult concept for other people?

Good for you for being able to quit. Unfortunately, it's not that easy for others, because of that pesky condition called "addiction."

maybe it is different for each person. People by nature are addictive and obsessive. Some choose the wrong things to be addicted too, or it chooses them.
People are not strong and need compelling reasons to change anything in thier lives. Physical addictions are much harder to give up then the mental ones.

See, I would agree with that...if other's didn't get "addicted" off the first time, and if I might add it isn't all that fun coming off it...so how is it someone gets addicted to that?

My big problem with addiction is that it is used so loosely anymore, addiction ranges from heroin all the way to I play video games too much...it is in my eye's lunacy.

Yup, have seen it myself too many times. It exists and it is devastating to the people who use and the friends and family of those addicted.

But if someone really truly wants to quit, it isn't much more difficult then that. My thought is that they don't really want to quit, but say what needs to be said in order to make others happy.

I think that doing anything too much that it causes psychical and mental harm is an addiction. I do agree that we tend to label people and things though.....too much so......like kids with ADD or ADHD........drugging them!!!explode grumble explode

Of course I believe it and we all feel it every time we fall in love. It's the best known addiction of all, being addicted to the way someone makes you feel. flowerforyou
