Its amazing at how easy it is for them to participate. My daughter plays as if she is Rachelle Ray thinking it is just something we play, then when it is time to taiste her masterpeice.... She is All About the FOOD!

I just thought of a GREAT healthy snack and VERY cheap!

Ants on a Log!

Celery
Peanut Butter
Raisins

Apple boats...hallow a sliver out of an apple slice, fill it with peanut butter and then stick the sliver into the peanut butter for a sail. I know I shouldn't play wiff my food, but they are fun AND yummy! laugh

Also use cookie cutters to make french toast with. Bigger shapes are always the easiest to cut into bread. Stars, hearts, etc. I like circles to make faces on. Two pats of butter with raisins in the center for the eyes a pecan nose and an apple sliver for a mouth. Every bite is a different taste sensation. happy

Works on pancakes and waffles too. flowerforyou

Also...if you pre cut the apples and put out bowls of pecans and raisins for them to decorate their own...then the leftovers mixed in a bowl and drizzled with honey make for a handy energy snack for you when they have you worn out by nap time...rofl

I did that with grilled cheese sandwiches. I needed to make something fast and simple because I was taking the kids (my daughter and nephew) out for Halloween. I made the sandwiches and then used my ghost and pumpkin cookie cutters. They never eat the crust, so instead of making another sandwich for myself, I just ate the leftovers. Made Tomato soup to go with it, but told them it was Blood soup, lol.

When my kids were 13 & 14, obviously too old to dress up and go trick or treating,so we had a Halloween Party at the house.

Decorated the house as a haunted house, we went all out. My exhusband put a jack on latern on his head and dressed up as a scarecrow. He sat onthe front porch and as kids arrived with their parents and the rand the doorbell, he would get up and open the door for them. Nearly scared the crap out of the parents but was soo damn funny.

Anyway to make a long story short, I made all gross grub for snacks, such as......

eye of newts (roast beef wraps cut up)
witches (cinnamon apple cider w/ice cream)
potato bugs (tater tots w/carrot strips for legs0
deviled mice (hrd boiled eggs dressed to be mice)
boogers on a stick(cheese colored green w/pretzel sticks)
worm burgers(reg hamburgers with mung bean sprouts)
cat litter casserol (rice, cheese and sausage dish)
sewer soda (club soda, ice cream & chocolate syrup)
Toasted tongues (tongue shaped meringue on sticks)

The kids had a blast and the parents wanted all the recipes.

My kids love this dish

cook a bag of egg noodles, then add a can or two of cream of mushroom soup (noodles should be entirely covered)

great with burgers or hot dogs

Mini Pizzas!

So simple, so good!

You will need:

1 can Refrigerated Bisquits
Sauce (your choice!)
Toppings (your choice!)
Shredded Mozarella
Muffin Tin and an oven helps. lol

Place one biquit in each lil muffin compartment.
Gently press in center of bisquit, spreading it out
just slightly.
Next, 1 Tsp sauce in the center of each bisquit..
A pinch of cheese...
Toppings (remember, a little DOES go along way!)
Another pinch of cheese on top.
In the oven for 10-12 minutes, and out with lil Pizzas!

Some ideas:

Pepperoni Mini Pizzas: Diced Pepperoni, shredded Mozarella, pizza/pasta sauce.. (Optional: Diced onion and peppers)

Ranchero Chicken Mini Pizzas: Diced grilled chicken, shredded Mozarella, ranch dressing (as sauce - better than it may sound!) (Optional: Diced mushroom and onion)

Seafood Mini Pizzas: Diced Imitation Crab, diced shrimp, sredded Mozarella, cream sauce(homemade, easy!) or Alfredo sauce (Optional: Diced onion, green pepper, cilantro)

Mexican Mini Pizzas: Seasoned Taco meat or refried beans, salsa or taco sauce, CHEDDAR cheese (optional: Jalapeno peppers (diced), Green chiles, tomatos, onion) Yummy when topped with fresh diced tomato, shredded lettuce and sour cream before serving.

Enjoy! =)
