There is such an irony in existence. On the one hand, one could say we are all equal, that no one is better than any one else. Yes and no. I believe in standards, and I want someone equal or above me, just like my Mom said I should. She was right. I don't want to dip. I want to rise and become a better person and one way to do so is to associate with them.
So, do that. Keep your standards. Heck, RAISE THEM. We may all have been BORN equally. It matters what we DO with ourselves to better ourselves that creates chasms and classes.

That is true in my mind as well, but what I consider my high standards could be what someone else considers their lowered standards or visa versa. I don't take it as a comment about the person per say...but a comment about accepting fewer of the traits in someone that we might prefer they possess.
