Yes, but again you are giving people too much credit. In a vapid world there must be romance and white lights, jewelry and scenes of ships floating in the magical sea....laugh

in that case, he should have written his own story instead of makin tolkien roll in his grave.

Naw, I think films like this are great as they bring sci fi to the masses....

It is scotch on the rocks, heavy on the rocks, but it is still scotch.

I want to live in a world where I can say I love Star Wars and saw all the films opening weekend and don't hear, Oh, you're one of them geeks, huh?

You do realize that Tolkien developed his stories which were heavily influenced by many other pieces of literature? I don't think you do...

true, it does bring the genre to more ppl, but why did he decide to butcher a masterwork? if he really wanted to do a fantasy love story why didn't he do the dragonlance trilogy? it has that element in it already, he dosn't have to butcher the storyline to add it. dye her hair red and liv would have made a perfect tika.

why care what "the masses" think about ur enjoyment of the genre? f.r.o.m-ing is fun as he11pitchfork get 4 or 5 of ur friends, dress in garb and walk thru a grocery store... pitchfork

After reading all of this I'm just going to say this and that's the last thing I will be posting in this thread.

You're wasting our time. Go to the Lord of the Rings fan sites and take your opinion laced argument there. I don't see a difference in what you're attempting to argue and a child crying since his parents won't buy him the expensive toy. Wah. So, the movie isn't what you wanted, so get over it. Move on.

Jackson and that tiny 20 million dollar salary of his HAS already moved on.
