Night falls firmly on feeble hope
And hungry dreams that crawl into the world Through a back door on a moonless night Without as much as a dark smile, a cold goodbye. I wave from a window to that which is no longer mine, And mourn with a quiet sigh my dreams' Final absence before the end On feet that feel the cold in earth, I shuffle Upstairs to lay on my narrow bed recalling days When I could see and feel in that time Before I lay in hopeless trance in dreams resigned. I fake a laugh, refuse tears and feel a chill crawl up my spine. One day, I whisper at the night, I will know Peace as I now know the lies of sorrow. |

nightfall
is nearly over another eve of delicate reverie breathing appropriately calm and restful heartbeat measured rising imperceptibly alone yet not the only one pushing the blind an inch this gray watercolor world begins to breathe as well as quietly and peacefully as grey dissolved she reappears as night unfalls |
