What the big thing is with storms? My grandma gets so scared when it's gonna storm, she always always always insists I don't go anywhere in case it does, doesn't want my mom to go to work, wants my aunt to come over, etc. What is the big deal??

Plus it gets in the way of my life sometimes too, which is annoying. I wanted to go to a movie with a friend tonight (last time I'd see him before I leave for Seattle), and she doesn't want me to go because it might storm. I hate when she gets like this! grumble grumble

Tell her that it will be ok. Storms are not dangerous. They are quite peaceful and they halp me destress. ASk her why she is so scared. I bet she has a story behind it. Let her know that technology these days will let us know if fit is severe enough for a tornado or whatever. Good Luck. If I were you, I would still go out with your friend!

Did her house once land on a witch?

Sorry to hear that. Live your life your own way, I say. It worked for Elvis - right up until the obesity, drugs, attitude, laziness, arteriosclerosis, Hawaiin leis and Priscilla got to him.

I want to, but don't want to upset her either.

Oh and trust me, she knows about technology lol, she only watches the weather channel and things of that ilk non stop when it might storm!

Some people associate storms with bad things and the other half of us enjoy them as a beauty of nature.
My grandmother hated storms and freaked out if I went walking in them........(The coast is glorious during a storm!)
But you have to remind her that you are a grown boy and that storms don't effect you the way they effect her.

It's not so much me she worries about, it's her, she doesn't like being alone.

You have obviously never seen a storm pick up your neighbors house and throw it like a childs toy. Old people have seen some nasty storms. I have been in two tornadoes myself and will probably be like your grandmother when I'm old and over protective of my grandchildren.

I think your grandmother is sweet...so give her a kiss on the cheek and humor her, by saying you'll keep an eye on the storm and seek shelter if it gets violent... just cause she loves you so much. Awww! flowerforyou flowerforyou

WOW! okay.....that's different. She must have had a bad experience?????? Maybe you could help her understand that she is safe when a storm appears on the horizon?????

I would ask he about her experiences and remind her that structures are built better today or something??? That's a tough one. flowerforyou

Yeah, I'm kind of torn in ways, want to go but don't want to make her upset either.

You can't change your grandparents points of view, trust me! But you can tell her that no matter what, as long as she is in your prayers and there is a phone near you will be there to get her through a storm. flowers
