wow- mixed emotions! even though he was 3 to 4 hours away from me, i always knew if he ever needed me or if i ever needed him-- i could get him!!! now it seems like he is out of reach and i have no control.
happy, proud, sad, scared, uncertain!!!!

Bless your heart... be proud, you've raised a child to adulthood, now it's your time!

That's completely natural. You can't make it go away and neither should you try to.

Please thank your son for me!flowerforyou Both of my sons and my daughter went into the military so I fully understand the range of emotions you are going through. I was a squid and went to boot in Orlando which I gather is shut down now. What career did he choose?

Both of mine are gone, college grads! They have both left Florida and I'm broke!Lmao I miss them terribly but two more productive adults have joined the world!

I totally understand. My daughter just turned 18. She leaves for boot camp on August 11. She decided that she wants to be a Marine. Boot camp is 13 weeks for the Marine Corp.

Hopefully he will enjoy it as much as My Son seems too. Maybe he will meet a gal like mine did and end up married with kids. Will think good thoughts for you. Pretty soon you will be getting calls all hours saying Mom you should see what I saw today lol. Least in the Military they can usually access a computer to chat.

Joyce, 15 yrs ago my son did the same thing.
Best thing that ever happened to him.
August 15, I will be in Norfolk Va. to see him reinlist for his last 5 yrs. Ceremony will be held on the bow of the battleship Wisconsin, anchored there as part of a museum.
Do you know what type of job he will be doing yet?
