the only thing I can think of is go into your internet options and
change the font.

Gina, I think CATB is right. Did that work for you? Since you use
Firefox, you would do the same thing we discussed to change the font
size, but make sure the "Fonts for" field says "Western". Will you let
us know if that worked?

i would go back to ststem restore but cant read the writing

Try going to Start, Control Panel, and then the folder Regional and
Language Options, click on the Language tab and then select the
language.... I hope this helps.

Gina, Since you are having trouble reading any text, I'm posting screen
shots in my profile which may help you to follow LAMoms suggestion.
(Unfortunely, JSH doesn't allow higher resolution photos).

i successful changed my -input- language and -default formats- but
*failed* to change the language used in my start menu and system folders
(which Gina describe in email) using 'regional and language options' -
maybe I just can't figure it out.

So now i'll post a screen schot for how to get into 'system restore'. I
hope its not confusing having screenshots for both methods together.

If u run xp home or pro just goto system restore and roll the time back
to b-4 it read in Japanese...
