i want opinions on this. just what do you think about it.. i am a mom of two girls, six and sixteen months, i also have tattoos. eight so far and nowhere near done.. my mom chews my a## everytime she sees me for this. she says moms dont act that way and i am setting a bad example for my girls. granted my six year old is starting to draw on herself saying she wants tattoos like mommy. but i do not think tattoos make you a bad mom.. it would be like me telling my mom that her mullet set a bad example for me...lol. what do all of you out there think? i see it as just my form of self expression indifferent

I am a firm believer that no matter what, your kids know who you are, good and bad...it has nothing to do with your tattoos

I would rather my kids know me to be real and truthful

When my kids want to get tattoos or anything else for that matter I just want to be present in their lives

yea i have the girls names on me and that is the only names on me. but then i get told its bad luck to get the names just in case something happens to them... its wierd.. no one judges young dads with tats... maybe its because i am young also???

Well I'm an older Mom and three of my kids have tats,, I did however tell them none until they were 18,,, It is there self expression of who they are.....

I am proud of them and the adults they have come to be.. tats and all

I have 6 tattoo's and two kids as well age 8 and almost 3. My daughter who's the 8 year old really wants tattoos. But we talked about it, how it's a big choice that's not for everyone, that each one means something important to me. They are permanent, and how some people will look down on you for having them, some people would judge you for having them. And how those choices can affect her future concerning jobs, so it's not anything to rush into.

So a little much for a 6 year old, but talk it through with them.

My mom is dead so I don't have to worry about the nagging aspect of it.

sorry about your momflowerforyou but with me every one of my tattoos mean something to me and has a story behind it..they arent just oh those are so pretty or something like that.. and if my kids want them i dont mind... i will sign for them at sixteen no earlier but they would have to tell me why they want it and what it means to them

Of course tatoos don't make you a bad mom! I do wonder how you afforded 8 with the expense of 2 children, & what exactly are you trying to express that requires needles & permanent changes to your body? Is it safe with your diabetes?

i do not pay for them... my best friend is a tattoo artist. as far as my diabetes it is perfectly safe as long as i make sure they don't get infected as they are healing, and they are more about marking the different things in my life i have gone through and survived... kinda like a permanent trophy

I am glad you were not offended by my questions. I really don't understand why someone would want to be poked with needles, but then I am a chicken!laugh
