And rest assured, I have not read all the posts (would take me a year at
this point, I think lol) but you have my prayers and thoughts as well.
I suffered from flashbacks for a while, even though I was never in
combat or even in a dangerous area. I think that was the worst of it
for me; we were always on such alert for POSSIBLE trouble, you never
knew what to expect. It only happened when I was sleeping normally; if
someone tryied walking quietly through the house or something I would
jerk awake thinking someone was breaking in, stuff like that.
ONE time only, did it happen while I was awake. A real bad thunderstorm
came in suddenly and violently. The thunder literally knocked stuff off
the shelves, and the lightning lit my trailer up from front to end, even
though ALL windows had heavy curtains over them and shut. And they
happened simultaneously. Everyone in the park actually thought
something had been hit in the park. Me, I hit the floor, behind the
chair thinking back to training and mortar rounds. Just pure instinct,
even after eight years of being out, but hey it happened. I know you
will get control of the flashbacks, and I know you will get to see your
child again. And for what it's worth I would gladly let you see my
children now, as long as I was there in case you did have a flashback.
I could screen them enough so they were not affected, IF one came over
you at that time. MEanwhile I personally dont think you should not
enjoy your children. Yes, like I said take precautions in case, but not
be denied.
And even though I am Army all the way... SEMPER FI!!!
