To people who know computers, this may be a dumb question. How do
computers "know" that DST was three weeks early and just automatically
change time?

Sushi, on one of the earlier threads, I mentioned that some computers
would not recognize the new change. I had gotten a newsletter from
CNET.com telling me about this, and that it would affect the older
computers that operate with Win XP or earlier. UNLESS... the computer
has the automatic updates activated, and then there was an update fix
for this sent out by Microsoft. I hope that has answered your question
for you, but if you wish to know more about it, please feel free to
email me. Dave

Dave is right. I have XP and my computer reset itself to the proper
time. I am feeling that it is 6:08 am and my 'puter says 7:08 am. HA!

I am happy about that but knowing my 'puter got one up on me is really
no help as I still have to go reset all the other clocks in the house!
lol.

Well Verb, I guess that we all must do a little manual labor when it
comes to DST still, as not everything is computerized as of yet. Enjoy
your day at least. laugh flowerforyou

The only thing I have left to manually change is the clock in the car,
and that I have to drag out the owners manual to read cuz I can never
remember how to do. LOL laugh laugh laugh

sushi, I use a wind up watch too with a big white face with black hands
and big numbers too. lol. It has a second hand which many new watches do
not have and I NEED that second hand. Lots of the new ones have only the
hour and minute hands on them, ever notice that? sheesh?

No problem for MAC Tiger OS - My mac checks all my software on a regular
basis and upgrades and makes changes within seconds. Spend a little more
money and get the best.

Money is not really the issue, because I have a windows vista pc whitch
is expensive, and I even had to change the time on it. However on my
Linux Madriva box, it has that same kind of update feature that Mr Echou
mac has. It changed for me. You do know that Macs are based on the Linux
kernal?

I'm sorry, more accurately it is a Unix derivative. Apple has found a
way to use other peoples code, improve upon it, then hord the code to
themselves, legally. For the record, it's still better than microsoft.
