It is a nearly undeniable fact, at this point, that intelligence was manipulated and or ignored in order to justify the invasion of Iraq.

Right, Americans by the millions bought the concept that we were "saving" them from Saddam so this would make us the great saviors of the world. None considered the concept that a nation that over turns a sovereign nations government for personal gain is no better than Saddam or maybe even Hitler.

First off the American people should have called a halt to the interest in Saddam due to the fact HE WAS NOT THE PERPETRATOR OF 9/11.

Second, We cannot "save" them from their leader unless we were ASKED BY THEM TO DO IT.

Thirdly, the American people put on their rose colored glasses and refused to see that we were being manipulated to believe that Iraq was the "right" thing to do.

Yes. Rumsfeld was an idiot.

So were the other neocons.

Meet resistance from Saddam's Army no. Resistance from occupying a foriegn country yes.

You cannot beat partisons on their own soil. They live there, they can outlast you. The Iraqi's did see us as saviors to a tyranical regiem. What they didn't expect (and what we shouldn't have done), is that we'd hang around for another 5 years. They were more than happy to see Saddam go, and they'll be even happier when George (and Uncle Sam with him) leaves.

These people know how to run a country, the only ones that don't are us. Look how messed up our country is, do we honestly think we are bringing these people anything. Plus, you can't bring democracy to anyone. They have to want it, and they have to fight for it themselves. Anything else is just a puppet government of an oppressive state (you know kind of like the South Vietnamese government we supported from 1958 to 1974).

Look we have a lot of people in Washington we elect. If these people honestly thought this would be over in a couple of months, we should seriously consider not inviting them back to Washington in November. I say we do ourselves a big favor and vote liberatarian across the board. Just put an entirely new party in power for one term. Send a message to the Democrats and Republicans that on the whole, we are P*SS*D O*F!!

The main problem with our political system is that it misses one of it's checks and balances. The part that is missing is the accountability to the public. Whig party is Dead, they actually had a President elected. Federalist party is dead, they had a few Presidents. The No Nothing Party actually got descent votes one year, been a while not sure if they won. Bull Moose party didn't stick around. And what was that one William Jennings Bryan had?

See there have been a lot of political parties that have had power in this country. We've forgotten that, and allowed two parties to dominate the stage to the point that they aren't even in competition with each other. They are in competition with the public.
