Maybe it was your cat...jumping into the door. ...and for once, I'm not being sarcastic here. Maybe it wanted in, and it was trying to let you know. it was more a "got slammed up against the door forcefully" noise.... 
Maybe he ventured onto someone elses property...and not that it was right, but maybe they felt the need to let you know they had brought your cat back in a really mean way. |

he has returned...
scratch on his back leg..but he will be ok.. still dont know what happened. but the panther cat is super skittish... 
but home safe.. and on house arrest for the week...!!!
