Im an electrician and I do alot of side work. I give this lady a very good prices to install to ceiling fans and replace a switch with a dimmer swith.

I do all the work, she is very happy and writes me a check.

A week later I get a notice from my bank saying the check was cancelled. I call the lady and ask whats wrong. She tells me that the next day she pulled on the pull chain to change the speed on the fan and the plastic coupling had broke off and she expects me to come over and fix it.

well obviously one of her kids tied himself to it and went for a ride come on now

she just wants to see you again(you lucky dog you!)

Hope you didn't get stuck for the materials.
go back, disconnect the wires, tell her go get cash & you will finish.
Unless I know people, 1/2 upfornt & they pay for all materials.
I give reciepts & discount for cash.

That's one way of getting a good looking guy to come back to your home

Im going back tomorrow... I will think of something.. im out some cash but not alot. Another bad thing is the bank is out of town. Oh well, another lesson learned.

Couldn't she have at least extended you the courtesy of a phone call before cancelling the check? Why didn't she just make you aware of the problem and give you a chance to fix it before taking such a drastic step (which would likely have cost her bank fees)? Seems a little silly to me ... you've got a great attitude about it, admire you for that!

I have some rooms I would like to have ceiling fans in. We can just skip the check writing and cancelling part. Free ceiling fans and installation. Woo-hoo! And you are going back to fix something she broke too!

I am also an electrician and we have a few horror stories when dealing with some of those who could affor to pay many times more than the price we charged. Maybe that is how they make their money. Screwing others!

I was telling the guys today that my worst custumers are the ones with lots of cash. I love the customers that arent "well off".

They always seem to be the best. I think it is becuase they know what it is like to work for a living.

I was just thinking that...she shouldve called...plain and simple...some people are just weird and rude...sorry u have to deal with that...I bet it gets tiring...
