Political correctness has run amok!

People interested in these sorts of issues should look at the incidents that have arisen in Canada and England where their respective nanny states have become involved in hate speech incidents.

One case, in England, involved a former member of the Church of Scientology carry at sign that said "Scientology is a Cult" he was arrested for hate speech. If he cannot voice his opinion in the public square about an organization he was once a member of without fear of arrest there is a real problem.

Here in the U.S. those wishing to protest the current presidents actions are kept behind fences, campaigns monitor who attends events to keep protesters out and it seems in general anyone who questions U.S. policy is quickly branded unamerican.

Please, I beg you all, question, protest, research and talk to people you do not agree with. You might learn something. Real discussions might take place. If that happens the factions on both sides who profit from dividing the citizens of the U.S. will be on their heels.

The robbing of free speech, and the only robbing being done, is by trying to get the Professor fired and calling him a bigot to boot!

I could care less about the Muslim students protest, but it was that protest and only that protest which constitutes religious dogma in either opinion.

Because the Professor mentions the killing of Catholic Priests, and other crimes against humanity committed by Muslims worldwide, as a statement of fact does not justify the label religious dogma.

He showed a little anger in his statements but that is reality. A lot of people are angered by these actions.

The students who protest need reality, as their contradicting protest proves!

How can you justifiably protest against freedom of speech while utilizing that same freedom to do so without it coming back to bite you in the Arse?

That is exactly what those students the Professor is addressing and Muslims in Europe are doing when they protest the effigy of Mohammed used in a cartoon.

They are abusing the good will and laws of a free society with their religious dogma and showing their own bigotry.

Not the Professor, and I applaud his employers for standing behind him.

OK, OK, OK, ... so you won't cross the floor and re-claim YOUR debating seat next to mine. I got it Fanta.

So we might not agree on this one, ... and I amicably salute you on that note my friend.

My earlier point exactly!!!

But you would get the high mark 'Lynann', for having worded in a much more succinct fashion.

Obviously, IMO, GREAT POINT!!!

Her remark is neutral.
She did do a fine job of dancing on the line though. Committing neither left nor right!

He is a bigot and using the current "accepted" form of prejudice that Americans are perpetuating. If you cannot see the prejudice in this then I am shocked. I thought you were more intune with this kind of stuff than that????!!!!!

I agree. The protestors of the cartoon did absolutely nothing wrong it was their right but the professor spouting off the current "accepted" prejudice in the sense that the students and all muslims participate in terrorist activities is just one more pebble in the building pile of hatred, bigotry and unacceptable prejudice.

We do need to all get on the same side and the first step is to rid ourselves of this taught perception that all muslims are terrorists. Then we can move forward into giving them the respect all humans deserve by GIVING THEM BACK THEIR COUNTRY THAT WE TOOK BY FORCE IN THE NAME OF PEACE AND DEMOCRACY.

I would have to say that both parties are in the wrong. it is again freedom of the press with the cartoon, but the professor could have been more professional with his letter. as far as I know Muhammad being portrayed as a terrorist does not fall under slander in the legal since.

I don't believe I said anything about slander or it being illegal, did I?

I said hatemongering, fearmongering, prejudice, bigoted, etc...

I dont see his letter as hate mongering, fear mongering, prejudice, bigoted, or any of the above or conceived.

I see it as a statement in reality!
If they dont appreciate freedom of speech as practiced in the west, the cartoon isnt from here, then let them go home!
How is that prejudiced?
Freedom of speech as they are protesting by protesting this cartoon is a right guaranteed in our constitution. They can protest it all day, but it wont do any good. Do they think they will change our constitution by protesting?
Not!!
If they do and cant live by our constitution then that leaves one last choice.
Leave, and that's reality as the Professor stated correctly!!

Freedom of speech and protesting what this law produces is not the same as protesting the constitution at all. Where do you make the connection. If I made a picture of Jesus carrying bombs into an abortion clinic and got it published, you can bet your bottom dollar that the Christians would have a hay day protesting and boycotting and all kind of stuff whatever mag published it. They are not protesting the constitution they are protesting my depiction of their god as a deviant.

Do you see now the prejudice of this man? He is showing his out and out hatred of their kind. Not their protesting, although he used the protest as a platform to perpetrate his bigotry.

Small note here.

I grew up in East Lansing, MI where MSU is located and currently live about forty miles west of town. The population of the city is diverse because of the university. In my experience people there while holding onto their ethnic identities still for the most part interact quite well and are generally peaceful in their interactions.

The area has always attracted an interesting bunch of people. Some of those people are those that enjoy creating controversy just for the sake of watching the fallout. I suspect but do not know that was a factor in the instructors actions.

everyone is missing the big picture

if and i say IF

you keep the """"PEOPLE"""" fighting among themselves

then the """PEOPLE""" are distracted from

what the govt is really doing

like passing the patriot act of 2001 (Google it as written)

you get everyone hating something and then the govt

can pass legislation to """protect you from that which you hate"""

and in the process you lose a few more rights and liberties

everyone should be judged on their own merits

there are good and bad in every sect of every society

Divide and conquer is a hell of an agenda these days .

Wow. Congrats on this thread Dragon. You got to use your favorite words. Bigot, racist, fear monger, hate monger. That must have brought you pretty close to the edge. I guess in YOUR opinion that the professor has no freedom of speech. I think they should give him a medal. You are too brainwashed for me to even attempt to talk to you. So I will not even debate the reasons the professor is right. I hope you never become a judge or hold a political office. Seek help for your anger issues. By the way...Who made you the savior of the earth and what makes you think you are right? Do you think you know all the right answers? It must be hell for you to wake up every morning and tolerate the rest of the human race.

Well ...it's a real case of "politically correct only & all others need not apply" you mean to really say.

If you want to know why so much hate goes out, all you have to do is look at the irrational hatreds of left wingers who lie & slander those simply for disagreeing with them.

It's so easy for you to make someone you disagree with out to be a monster...right?

You wanna blame someone? Blame you freedom of speech pals on the left ...they are the ones who keep moving the goal post of decency.

I give you KUDO's for this reply...so ride on.

It's too easy to namecall & quote the PC version of stories. People should hear all sides before they make conclusions.

I think you need to look at yourself. Every Forum you start no matter what the political topic you slander democrats and anyone on the left. Then you get mad when they come right back at you. Want to discuss your view's with people rationally your not going to by coming out bashing the ones who will disagree with you. All you have to do is read below and read every forum you have started..
