web-footed promises panted,
flew free upon an ocean’s breeze
of wishes and dandelion dreams --

then stomped, stuttered awakening
in large dangerous doses,
swallowed in jagged pieces
of lioness-in-a-cage disillusionment.

Take my offering of embodiment,
chew comfort slow and sweet
without a napkin upon your lap
of self-imposed imprisonment,
cleanse your wounds in the Salton-sea
of adoring eyes cast your way,
flee your birdcage of crap
and sit in comfortable silence
as I chase away the albatross

of a clung to past.
