Does anyone else here have aquariums? This has been a lifelong hobby for me. I am getting my 1st really large tank set up. 75 gallons, I got a good deal on it used, beautiful oak cabinet stand. I plan on using it mainly for angelfish, with livebearers for color & to give the big guys an occasional treat of thier fry. Maybe an arrowana. Anyone have experience with arrowanas? I already have a 15 gallon & 10 gallon going with neons, guppies, honey gouramis, checkerboard barbs, a coolie loach & corydoras.

My home isn't like home without the play of light on the water & the sound of the filters.happy

I had a small one once...was too hard for me to keep clean.

Now I have a goldifsh /koi pond outside and I love it! It has a fountain and it is so relaxing to sit by and watch the fish. My koi will come eat from my hand. The water lilys and other water plants are a big part of the enjoyment also. If you want to get on my good side...buy me a new fish or water plant and I will grin from ear to ear...LOVE MY POND! happy

Nice! My ex-gf has a bunch of aquariums. the upkeep is tremendous. She had a lot of fun but every time a fish would die she would be in mourning. She'd take them, wrap them in a towel crying and then freeze there bodies. Each one had their own name too. Still she bought more.

I am not happy when I lose a fish, but I don't put them in the freezer, they go in the compost pile!

You can even have a koi pond inside if you have the space. But, natural is better for the fish and plants.

Golfish are actually harder to keep than tropicals. They are a cold water fish. Cold water holds more dissolved oxygen than warm water. They need more room, more frequent water changes & good filtration. They need to go below 50 degrees for a while to prepare for breeding, & will breed when the water warms back up. They are much happier in a pond than an aquarium.

If ever build a house it will have an atrium with a pond. Koi, like goldfish, can be kept inside, but are much better off outside.

Try some esy tropicals. I recomend Guppies, zebra danios & small barbs to start. Tiger barbs are the prettiest barbs but can be a bit aggressive towards slow fish with trailing fins, so best to not keep them with fancy guppies.

I actually used to breed crowntail and halfmoon betta fish for awhile.

That was actually kind of hard. Not like dog breeding where you just put male and female together and BAM! Much more complicated, lots of time and money. Not really worth it, but the experience was fun.

Now I just have a 30 gal tank with 4 I mean now goin gto be 3 goldfish. One of them I am going to put down. My black moor tore out the littlest ones eyes. First I thought it was an accident on the first eye missing maybe from my filters or something.... I took out everything and changed to different filters, and now impossible to lose an eye... But nope! Stupid black moor took his other eye! He is a bully. So the eyeless one is getting put down today. :-( My only ranchu....

I need to get a 125gal tank. I bred some goldfish, but I lost out on a HUGE tank that I needed for them. So I had to give them away as 3 month babies.

Anyways, they grew and are bigger than any local petstore sells them at. I never knew goldfish can grow this big until I seen on youtube. WOW!
